Mr. Ponder is the name of a Pelican in the Colin Thiele novel, Storm Boy, a much-loved read of Australians for several generations.
The original property in the Ponder Cottages Group is in bayside Shoalwater Western Australia, which is often visited by a flock of Pelicans who roost on an island just offshore from the property.
Ponder Cottages offers you the following amenities for your comfort and enjoyment:
- WiFi
- Office nook
- TV (both in the Apartment and in the outdoor Bale – both with cables to connect with your laptop)
- Soundbar with Bluetooth in the outdoor Bale
Because we are in the center of things there are many great tourist bars and restaurants just a short walk away.
Will Smyly2023-09-03 We stumbled across Ponder Cottage in May 2023. We thought we would stay a week. We ended up staying three months 😊. Su and Mark were excellent hosts who are very knowledgable about the area and island as they have lived there on and off for over two decades. They helped us navigate and dive into local culture as if we had been there for years ourselves. The villa staff (Ketut and Kadek) were incredibly kind and welcoming to us too. We rented the back half of the villa for our stay which had 3 en suite bedrooms and an inter-leading lounge. Comfortable beds and bedrooms that were cleaned everyday (except on ceremony days), good aircon and nice bathrooms. The wifi was just strong enough for work calls, which is good for Lembongan. The living/kitchen/pool area was perfect for our family and also plenty of space if we had friends/guests staying too. All in all a wonderful (and affordable) place to stay and we would recommend both short and long stays! Sophie Baix2023-03-05 A mini haven of peace: charming little hotel, only 3 bedrooms, with a shaded swimming pool and a very pleasant outdoor lounge/kitchen, run by a super nice Australian couple. The cleanliness is exemplary, the room is cleaned every day. All this 100 meters from a beautiful beach with lots of great restaurants, local or not, around. In short, the perfect place! SJ Muir2023-02-22 The place is lovely and so convenient! Accommodations are private and comfortable. We especially enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and lounging area and pool. Mark and Susie were great hosts and very helpful in making recommendations and arrangements for activities! I definitely recommend! The location is amazing. 1 minute walk to the beach where shipwrecks and razors surf breaks are located and it is very close to a variety of restaurants. The space is big and has an amazing outdoor living area with a full kitchen and large swimming pool with sunbeds and umbrellas. The staff were always friendly and very attentive. The house was kept clean and tidy at all times. Mark and Sue are lovely people. Great communication and very helpful. We highly recommend ponder cottage to anyone looking for a comfortable space in a great location on Nusa Lembongan island Julie Elmer2022-11-13 This place is amazing! Can’t rate it highly enough.
