Mr. Ponder is the name of a Pelican in the Colin Thiele novel, Storm Boy, a much-loved read of Australians for several generations.
The original property in the Ponder Cottages Group is in bayside Shoalwater Western Australia, which is often visited by a flock of Pelicans who roost on an island just offshore from the property.
Mark and Susi, the owners of Ponder Cottagess, decided to pay homage to this beautiful native bird by naming their holiday home after the character of one of them in Storm Boy.
It also seemed right for another reason; because to ponder means to deeply reflect on a question and to do that you need both time and space. As a result, Mark and Susi decided to create a series of properties to enable guests to do just that.
Ponder Cottages is an expansive 4-bedroom property just behind the beach of Jungut Batu Bay in Nusa Lembongan off Bali’s southeast coast.
We offer a large self-contained Apartment with kitchen, lounge and dining room, with private front and rear entrances along with three additional bedrooms in a rear wing, all under the one roof, yet separated by an internal courtyard so you can still enjoy your privacy.
In the grounds you’ll find a 7-metre swimming pool with pool beds, a spacious traditional Bale (patio) with a full kitchen, a dining table which comfortably seats eight, two outdoor lounge settings and a lush tropical garden. It’s the perfect hideaway for a tranquil and private experience to ponder life’s more important matters – like love … happiness … family and wellbeing.
